MEMORIALS
What is “The Arsenal Way”?
For me it is all about tradition, class, respect and history. For this reason Northbanksy art has always made space tp memorialise and remember those in the Arsenal family who came before us — and who go before us still.
We Will Remember Them.
Kevin Campbell's memorial mural in The Tunnel. Before this happened, my idea had been to keep this side of the tunnel for our current team - but after Kevin died so suddenly in 2024 I knew I had to commemorate him and that this was the only appropriate place to do so.
The junction of Gillespie Road and St Thomas' Road, the exact spot Arsenal supporter John Dickinson was murdered by West Ham's hooligans in 1982.
A Northbanksy painting and flowers for John Dickinson, an Arsenal supporter who lost his life in a knife fight with West Ham hooligans outside Arsenal tube station in 1982.
Friends of John Dickinson gather at the sight of his killing some 40 years later, to commemorate his life.
A Northbanksy painting of John Dickinson, an Arsenal supporter who lost his life in a knife fight between hooligan groups in 1982. He was just 24 years old. RIP John.
Memorial for our fellow Arsenal supporter Tashan Daniel - who was murdered by a random stranger at Hillingdon tube station while on his way to attend a match at Emirates Stadium in July 2020. RIP Tashan.
My David Rocastle memorial 2019 - now gone - from outside The Che Pub in Holloway N7. This was the second ever mural in the Northbanksy project - and Rocky's message is relevant as it ever was.
Northbanksy's mural - the first ever Northbanksy mural, in fact - commemorating the life and times of a forerunner in the Arsenal online/blogging scene: Dave "The Goonerholic" Faber, who sadly died in 2019. This blank poster site is right next to where The Tunnel is today. So it's all very local!
Maria Petri memorial, Highbury Stadium Square, July 2022. I've been told she was far too polite ever to use this chant in real life! RIP Maria.
A Northbanksy mural - the first ever Northbanksy mural - commemorating the life and times of a forerunner int he Arsenal online/blogging scene: Dave "The Goonerholic" Faber, who sadly died in 2019. Dave was one of those who welcomed new members into the Arsenal family with a smile, patience and compassion. The work of this Northbanksy project is partly a tribute to him and to his approach to our club. RIP Dave.
